Secret edges Liquid for Shanghai Major title

SHANGHAI--Secret downed Liquid, 3-1, to clinch the Shanghai Major title on Sunday.

In a repeat of its semifinal brilliance on Saturday, Secret, which finished runner-up in the Frankfurt Major last January, took home $1.11 million (almost PHP52 million) in cash as the Shanghai Major winner.

Secret drew first blood in the best-of-five series as Clement Ivanov showed his prowess in using Enchantress while teaming up with Johan Astrom's Lion to provide great support to Magnus Flipsen's Tidehunter.

Liquid bounced back in Game 2 as its dominance early into the match was enough for the team to hold off a potential endgame heroic from Secret.

Omar Aliwi then caught fire in the third game, going for 14 kills and 11 assists as Invoker without dying the entire match to give Secret the 2-1 lead.

Secret delivered the executioner's ax in the fourth game, finishing off Liquid in just 25 minutes with Jacky Mao, playing as Slark, leading the way.
