UAAP men's football second round begins with potential Final Four previews

TAGUIG--De La Salle plays defending champion Far Eastern University, while University of Santo Tomas clashes with University of the Philippines at the start of second round action on Sunday in the UAAP Season 78 men's football tournament at the McKinley Hill Stadium.

The Green Archers-Tamaraws face-off at 8 p.m. will feature two of the leading goalscorers.

FEU rookie Rico Andes is No. 1 with six goals while De La Salle's Greggy Yang has five in second.

In the first match at 5 p.m., the Tigers hope to score a repeat of 1-0 win over the Maroons last Thursday which leveled the España-based squad with the Archers on top of the table with 17 points.

Both De La Salle and UST are the remaining undefeated teams in the season with five wins and two draws, but the Taft-based booters are ahead in goals.

The Tamaraws, meanwhile, finished strong in the first round to tie the Fighting Maroons in third spot with 11 points.

FEU and UP are two clear of joint fifth placers National University and Ateneo, both toting nine points.

Televised matches will resume on Thursday at the Moro Lorenzo Field, with NU battling Adamson University and Ateneo playing University of the East.
