SAN JUAN, MM--After downing the then unbeaten Ateneo De Manila University Lady Eagles, the De La Salle Lady Spikers were sent crashing back to the ground by the highly-energized University of Sto Tomas Golden Tigresses in straight sets, 25-21, 25-22, 25-21, in the final match of the first round of the UAAP women's volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre on Wednesday.
UST played impressive defense against La Salle’s blocking prowess as Cherry Rondina, EJ Laure, and Rica Rivera played big time defense to prevent any balls from dying in their side of the court.
UST also played with a lot of confidence as EJ Laure topped scored with 13 markers.
La Salle actually led during the latter parts of the sets, but UST managed to overtake the La Salle’s lead to eventually pocket the three-set stunner.
