MANILA--This is not an April Fools joke. One Championship has finally established a women's MMA title match.

The organization, through Chairman Chatri Sityodtong, announced on Friday that a women's title belt will be on the line for Ascent to Power on May 6 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

In an interview with CNBC, Sityodtong said that unbeaten Singaporean MMA darling Angela Lee will battle Japanese MMA veteran Mei Yamaguchi for the said title.

Both fighters are not that new to the ears of the Filipino MMA fans as Lee, even before she had her match last December at the Mall of Asia Arena, gained many fans from the Philippines for her charm.

On the other hand, Yamaguchi last fought internationally in the Philippines, losing by a split decision over prized Filipino women's MMA fighter Gina Iniong at PXC 43 at the Ynares Sports Arena in 2014.

Yamaguchi has since returned home to Japan and won four of her last five fights, including all of the previous three en route to winning the Deep Jewels women's featherweight title.

The rest of One: Ascent to Power will be announced in a later date.
