Ateneo completes sweep of NU for back-to-back men's volleyball titles

PASAY--Ateneo proved why they are the ‘team to beat’ this season after sweeping NU in the championship series via a 25-16, 25-20, 25-18 Game 2 win at the Mall of Asia Arena for their second straight UAAP men's volleyball plum.

Graduating team captain Ysay Marasigan, who was hailed as the Finals Most Valuable Player poured in 12 points followed by back-to-back-to-back season MVP Marck Espejo with 11 markers.

Ateneo punished the young National University squad from the get go. James Natividad, who was awarded Rookie of the Year, tried to carry his team’s offense, but the Blue Eagles' firepower was too much for the Bulldog’s receivers.

NU put up a fight in the second canto, but the championship poise of Ateneo propelled them to extinguish any form of NU run.

The win was a fitting coronation for Ateneo, which only dropped one game the entire season.
