SINGAPORE--Balestier boosted its chance of making the next round of the AFC Cup with a 3-0 rout of also-ran New Radiant at the Jelan Besar Stadium on Tuesday night.

Zulkiffli Hassim put the home side up 23 minutes in before Jamil Ali duplicated the lead in the 32nd minute. Fadhil Noh sealed the win with a 61st minute strike.

The win drew the S-League club to within two points of UFL's Kaya for the last playoff spot in Group F and within three points of Hong Kong's Kitchee for the top spot following the result of the latter two's match-up at the Rizal Memorial Stadium earlier Tuesday, setting up a potential all-or-nothing Matchday 6 for all the three clubs involved.

Balestier goes to Hong Kong to face Kitchee in a possible sudden death match for one of the two spots to the knockout stages, while Kaya, only needing a draw to qualify to the next round, travels to Maldives to take on Radiant.

Kaya can secure the top spot in Group F with a win plus Kitchee's non-win against Balestier or a draw plus Kitchee's loss to Balestier provided the latter's winning margin must not reach six.

Kaya, however, can still be eliminated if they lose to Radiant and Kitchee beats Balestier at home.
