Batang Gilas returns with a bang, wallops Thailand in SEABA U18

MEDAN--Batang Gilas showed its dominance in Southeast Asian grassroots basketball at the start of the SEABA U18 Championship with a 101-45 win against Thailand on Saturday night.

The RP Youth Team bludgeoned Thailand in the second and the third quarters to cruise to its first win of the tournament that serves as the qualifier for the FIBA Asia U19 Championship next year.

Incoming Ateneo college freshman Jolo Mendoza led Batang Gilas with 16 points on four triples, while Rendell Lee introduced himself to the basketball world by adding 12, all on triples as well.

Natthaworn Banchathon was the high-point man for Thailand with eight markers.
