MEDAN--Batang Gilas bucked a surprise first half deficit to turn back Thailand, 86-49, in the championship game of the SEABA U18 Championship on Thursday night.

The RP Youth squad found themselves in an uncharted zone as Thailand went on an 11-0 run spanning the first two quarters to go up, 26-17.

But they ended the second period on a 31-6 rally to blow the game wide open and never looked back en route to a successful defense of their youth basketball title and a place in next year's FIBA Asia U18 Championship in India.

Josh Sinclair once again led Batang Gilas, which ended their campaign with a full 6-0 sweep, with 15 points, six rebounds, one assist, and one block.

Ponsatorn Tabtim scored 14 markers and six boards for Thailand.
