SELAYANG--Despite a scoreless stalemate against Selangor at the Selayang Municipal Stadium on Tuesday night, Ceres booked its ticket to the next round of the AFC Cup, making them the first Philippine club to qualify for the knockout rounds.

The first half was not a period to remember as both sides barely made decent chances in the penalty box.

Ceres started the second half a bit lively as Adrian Gallardo had a good opportunity at goal in the 48th minute.

In the 60th minute, Jason Sabio almost gave Ceres the lead but his header was over the bar.

The Malaysian side thought that they were at the front on the 72nd minute when Asrif shot the ball to the bottom left corner of the net but he was called offside.

The 3-2 upset win of Sheikh Jamal over Tampines was the guarantee to Ceres as the victory lessened Tampines' maximum available points.
