PASAY--The diplomatic relation between the Philippines and China may not be as good as before due to current events, but it hardly mattered as the Filipino DOTA 2 fans cheered for Chinese team Wings after they pulled a huge Cinderella run en route to winning the ESL One title at the Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday night.

The club, despite being surprised by the crowd roar, had nothing but praises for the Filipino fans.
"The passion of the fans surprised us, and it made us more excited.... Starting from Day 2, the cheering never stopped, and even if the local team [Mineski] was eliminated, they're still cheering and enjoying what they love," the team said through an interpreter when asked by the media after their championship conquest.
But despite the growing cheers for them, Wings, which made the main tournament via the China qualifier and was tagged as pre-tournament underdogs, just kept on doing their job.
"We just focused on the game," the team continued.
Now a first-time champion in a major e-sports competition, Wings simply reacted, "It feels great."
