Magdato shines through as UP dethrones FEU

QUEZON CITY -- There will be a new name to the UAAP Men's Football trophy, as UP edged out FEU in a tight and physical Diliman derby, 1-0 in their final match of the eliminations earlier in the afternoon at the Moro Lorenzo field.

Freshman midfielder Kyle Magdato struck for the Fighting Maroons, as he poked in the winner in first-half stoppage time to grab all three points for Anto Gonzales, as they ended their regular season at the top of the table with 30 points.

Kim Chul-su's Tamaraws were the aggressor in the second half, but they will rue their missed chances to equalize as their title defence came at a screeching halt, crashing out of the postseason race for the first time since 2012.

With the win by UP, the Final Four cast is complete as UST and Ateneo are safely through to the postseason without any complications as FEU ended their season with 24 points, a point behind the Golden and the Blue Booters.
