MANILA--Nomads and Alabang Ibons kicked off their 2016 SPI 15's campaign with convincing wins over Clark and CBRE respectively over the weekend.

After losing in the knock out stages of the Manila 10s earlier this year, Nomads and Alabang Ibons both bounced back, showing their hunger for silverware in the Philippine Rugby Football Union domestic 15's league.

Nomads defeated Clark, 67-7, in the cup division, whilst the Ibons shut out CBRE, 73-0, in the plate competition.

The bowl division saw closer games.

The Extinct Volcanoes defeated the Alabang Loros, 32-26, at Nomads Sports Club in Paranaque, while over at Southern Plains in Calamba, Subic narrowly beat Quezon City Polytechnic University 22-20.

“A disappointing start for a couple of teams last weekend but I am sure they will reevaluate their strategies and narrow the gap over the remaining six rounds,” claims Jovan Masalunga, PRFU Head of Development.

Masalunga also added, “Nomads will need to prepare for reigning champions Alabang Eagles this weekend and the forever improving Albay Vulcans will be looking for a win after losing in the final of the Manila 10s Shield.”

Round 2 of the SPI 15s League takes place this Saturday from 1 p.m. at Southern Plains field and at Nomads Sports Club from 7 p.m.
