QUEZON CITY--Notre Dame turned up the heat in the third quarter to stun Ateneo Prada, 53-44, in a City Hoops shocker at the CCP Gym on Wednesday.
The Fighting Irish actually tried to pull away early in the U13 match-up, banking on a 14-3 first half run to jump out of a close fight in the first quarter and take a 19-9 lead in the second.
The Prada Eaglets, however, went on a 14-1 rally to take the lead, 23-20, before settling for the better of a 24-23 halftime scoreline.
Notre Dame then opened the third with a 14-4 blast to lead, 37-28. They would extend the gap to 12 and never let Ateneo Prada inch way closer in the end.
In an earlier game, Ateneo's U12 team walloped Fruitas-JCA, 75-27.
