NU, Ateneo trounce opponents in UAAP men's volleyball

SAN JUAN, MM--The National University Bulldogs overcame De La Salle University in five sets, 25-19, 25-27, 18-25, 25-21, 15-12, in UAAP men’s volleyball action on Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Arena.

Meanwhile, Ateneo de Manila University drilled University of the East, 26-24, 25-21, 25-15, for its 12th victory in 13 matches.

All but one starter scored in double figures for NU as coach Dante Alinsunurin’s wards had to go through the wringer before prevailing.

James Martin Natividad topped with 20 points, 18 of them from attacks. Madzlan Gampong had 13 attack points to finish with 18 in all. Francis Philip Saura had 15 markers, three of which were from service aces. Ruben Baysac also notched 15 points, while Kim Malabunga had 12.

National U is now at ten wins with only one match left in its schedule.

Already eliminated, DLSU, led by captain Raymark Woo with 22 points, now has a 4-9 win-loss record.

John Arjay Onia finished with 12 attacks and an ace, while Cris Dumago scored five of his 11 points from blocks.

Marck Espejo headlined in the Eagles’ conquest of UE in the other scheduled men’s volleyball match as he topscored with 15 points.

Ish Polvoroza scored in all scoring skills with two attacks, four blocks, and two aces.

Edward Camposano scored 14 points (11 attacks, three blocks) for the still winless squad from Recto.
