MANILA--Just three days after Wings shocked the DOTA 2 community by winning the ESL One tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, the Chinese club will get a trip back to the Philippines as they accepted the direct invitation to the Manila Major on June 7-12 at the said venue.
Wings leads a cast of 12 teams that will directly enter the tournament through the invites as announced by the DOTA 2 website on Wednesday.
Also seeded to the Manila Major are ESL One runner-up Liquid and fellow participants Secret, Fnatic, and Complexity.
Meanwhile, the Filipino DOTA 2 fans can finally get a chance to be up close with star gamer Danil "Dendi" Ishutin as Natus Vincere also said yes to the direct invitation to the tournament where US$3 million is on the line.
EG, MVP, VG, OG, Alliance, and LGD are the other teams that will see action in the Manila Major.
Focus will now shift to the regional qualifiers, where the other four clubs will be determined.
Unlike ESL One where a special all-Filipino tournament was held to name the Philippine representative, the Manila Major does not have a Philippine qualifier and that all the Filipino teams will go through the Southeast Asian qualifier.
