QUEZON CITY--Sacred Heart-Novaliches pulled the first major shocker of the 2016 PhilHealth-City Hoops Preseason Cup after downing UP Junior Maroons, 70-66, in a U17 game at the AFP Wellness Center on Sunday night.

The debuting Bruins, who despite the lack of media attention showed brilliance by ruling the QCAA tournament last year, showed their championship form against the Junior Maroons, leading for most of the game and even pulling away late while withstanding the UAAP squad's last stand that turned out to be a little too late.

John Dayrit scorched for 24 points and three steals for Sacred Heart-Nova in the upset win.
