QUEZON CITY--San Sebastian bucked off a huge surprise by Marist to hack out a 65-62 win in the main game of City Hoops' opening day festivities at the AFP Wellness Center on Monday.
Brevin Competente completed the Staglets' comeback from a shock halftime deficit against the Golden Bears by nailing a three-point play in the dying moments of their U15 match.
Competente finished with 13 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals for San Sebastian, the reigning champion in the U15 division.
Marist, coached by former MBA star Sonny Manucat, had one foot already at the upset after leading, 39-30, at halftime and erasing a late four-point deficit with less than a minute left in the game.
