UE exits on high note after defeating Adamson

By Emy Manipol

SAN JUAN, MM--It was an emotional win for the UEt Lady Warriors after they finally snapped their 58-game losing streak that dates back to Season 74 with a three set sweep over the struggling Adamson Lady Falcons, 25-17, 25-22, 29-27 at the Filoil Flying V Arena on Wednesday.

UE started the game strong by derailing AdU with a 6-0 run that caught the Lady Falcons by surprise. The Lady Warriors pounded on Adamson’s inability to catch up with their tempo and built a huge lead.

Jema Galanza tried to carry her team on her shoulders by pouring points to tie the second at 20 all but Adamson never found other offensive weapons during rotations when Galanza was in the back row.

Adamson came alive during the third set and took advantage of the Lady Warrior’s errors. Adamson even reached the set point mark first but UE displayed end game composure that spearheaded their epic comeback.
With both teams tied, UE proved to be the more determined squad as they finally ended the game at 29-27 courtesy of the heroics of Shaya Adorador and Judith Abil.

Tears poured from not only the UE players but also from head coach Francis Vicente as their first victory in four years felt like a championship for the Lady Warriors.

Despite exiting the season early with only a single victory, Coach Francis Vicente is hoping that the team would build from the morale boosting victory and come out stronger next season.
