QUEZON CITY—UP started its City Hoops run on a high note with a 62-46 victory over Notre Dame in the inaugural game of the 2016 Preseason Cup at the AFP Wellness Center on Monday.
Rayel Labao had a solid all-around performance with 21 points, two rebounds, four assists, three steals, and one block for the Junior Maroons, who are using this tournament as a buildup for the UAAP season later this year.
Jordi Gomez De Liaño, the youngest of the well-known siblings that consist of Batang Gilas standouts Javi and Juan, along with his teammates, took over as they pulled away for good from the Fighting Irish in the second half.
Justin Badillo top scored for Notre Dame with nine markers.
