QUEZON CITY--Juan Gomez De Liaño made an impression in his City Hoops debut as UP mauled Ateneo De Iloilo, 62-47, in the main game of a six-match bill featuring all the ADI teams playing back-to-back games on the same day at the CCP Gym on Friday.
The Batang Gilas standout fired three treys en route to 11 points along with seven rebounds, three assists, and a steal before letting his teammates take charge for the Junior Maroons, who bucked a slow start and blew past the Blue Dragons in their U17 match-up.
The loss capped a sorry day for ADI's U17 squad as they also bowed to AMA, 71-37, earlier Friday.
However, the Blue Dragons' U12 and U15 teams got a 2-0 sweep of their assignments.
ADI's U12 squad needed a late push before downing San Sebastian U12, 44-40, before blasting Fruitas-JCA U12, 72-42.
The Blue Dragons' U15 team also had the respective U15 rosters of the Staglets and the Shakers in their schedule and prevailed, 51-46 and 58-34 respectively.
ADI's busy weekend, however, continues on Saturday at the AFP Wellness Center as their U15 and U17 teams will once again play two matches in one day.
Both squads will face off with those of Xavier at 1 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. respectively before capping the day with ADI U15 taking on La Salle Greenhills at 4:45 p.m. and ADI U17 battling Ateneo Prada, featuring the towering Kai Sotto, at 6 p.m.
The U12 Dragons will only have one match on Saturday, a 3:30 p.m. tip-off against the San Beda-Alabang Red Lions.
