Air Force stops Bali Pure, Laoag wins

SAN JUAN, MM--Philippine Air Force and Laoag won their respective assignments in the preliminaries of the Open Conference of the Shakey’s V-League’s 13th season on Monday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

PAF derailed Bali Pure, 25-23, 14-25, 25-19, 25-16, in the first match of the afternoon.

Dell Palomata led the way for the Jet Spikers with 16 points, broken down into ten attacks, a block, and five service aces.

Veteran volleybelle Judy Caballejo produced ten attacks and three blocks for 13 points as May Ann Pantino and Jocemer Tapic both had ten markers with Pantino scoring off three aces and Tapic five blocks.

Air Force joins Pocari Sweat and National University on top of the standings with one win (three points).

Amy Ahomiro topped Bali Pure with 13 points (eight attacks, three blocks, and two aces).

Former Ateneo Lady Eagles Ella de Jesus (eight attacks, four aces) and Dzi Gervacio (three blocks) had 12 markers each. Playing coach Charo Soriano contributed six points.

Alyssa Valdez and Gretchel Soltones did not play in this match.

In the other match, Laoag pulled off a four-set 25-10, 25-23, 20-25, 25-15 victory over Iriga for their first win after an opening day loss against NU.

Jema Galanza headed the Power Smashers with 16 points, 14 off attacks. Mylene Paat chalked up eight points, two blocks, and a service ace.

Grazielle Bombita put up 16 points (11 attacks, three blocks, two aces) for Iriga. Shola May Alvarez converted 11 attack points for 13 markers all in all.
