Alabang Eagles wax hot late to pounce Clark in SPI 15's

CALAMBA--The Alabang Eagles bucked an early storm from the Clark Jets and escaped with a 22-12 victory in their SPI 15's clash at the Southern Plains on Saturday.

A try from Timothy Bweheni sparked the Eagles' game-turning 17-0 run to repulse the Jets in their Cup Division tie.

Bweheni's national team comrade Jovan Masalunga highlighted Clark's early barrage with a try to help them build a 12-5 lead in the first half.

Bweheni, however, ended the half with his own converted try that tied the ballgame up, 12-all.

The Eagles then dominated the second half, taking advantage of the Jets' subpar performance to take the victory.

The Eagles' win capped a 3-0 sweep for the Alabang squads on Saturday with their bowl and distaff counterparts also getting victories.

The Loros downed the Subic Sharks, 29-22, in the Bowl Division, while the Lady Eagles soared above the CBRE Lady Mavericks, 12-10, in the Women's Division.

CBRE's male counterparts, on the other hand, eliminated Albay from the plate championship picture with a 30-10 blowout.

Action in the SPI 15's will return to the Nomads Sports Club in Parañaque on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
