SAN JUAN, MM—Ateneo bucked the effects of playing back-to-back FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup games and pipped Lyceum, 65-58, on Friday night at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
Following a win against the Letran Knights a night ago, the Blue Eagles made up for a hard time getting past new Pirate Harry Nzeusseu with their own inside defense, blocking eight shots and limiting the Pirates to only 33 percent shooting the entire game.
Thirdy Ravena made 15 points, eight rebounds, one assist, and one block for Ateneo, which will face La Salle next on Sunday.
Nzeusseu, a former UV Green Lancer, finished with 16 markers, ten boards, and one block for Lyceum.
