By Ivan Saldajeno

SAN JUAN, MM--Perpetual Help put an end to Arellano's unbeaten run in the FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup after an 80-72 win at the FilOil Flying V Centre on Friday night that stretched their own perfect start.

The Altas immediately opened a double-digit lead in the first half only for the Chiefs to cut it to as low as six late in the third quarter.

Perpetual Help then opened the final frame with ten straight points to pull away again, this time for good despite another Arellano run that came a little too late.

Bright Akhuetie led the Altas, who are now solely on top of Group A with a 4-0 card, with 19 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks, while Gab Dagangon nearly accomplished a double-double of his own with 14 points and nine rebounds together with two assists and two blocks.

Kent Salado carried the load for the Chiefs, who slipped to 3-1, in a game where Jio Jalalon was relatively quiet, finishing with 15 points, five rebounds, four assists, and four steals.

Jalalon would still wind up with 13 points, three rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
