MANILA--Rain Or Shine gaffer Yeng Guiao may be relinquishing his political post as Pampanga's First District representative as per partial and unofficial results.
As of 11:57 a.m. on Wednesday, a little over seven hours before the Elasto Painters are set to take on the Alaska Aces in Game 3 of the PBA Commissioner's Cup finals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, the reelection-seeking Guiao, who gained the trust of 106,086 voters who exercised their right of suffrage during Monday's elections, is behind Carmelo Lazatin, who got 127,762 votes.
As of the said time, 99.8 percent of the results have been generated to the COMELEC transparency server in which the results are being relayed to the media, making Lazatin, a member of a prominent political clan in Pampanga, a cinch to take over Guiao as congressman pending the official canvassing results.
Abueva's discoverer back as vice-gov
Meanwhile, well-known basketball aficionado Dennis Pineda, who helped start the road to stardom of the likes of Arwind Santos and Calvin Abueva, will be named Pampanga vice governor as he ran unopposed for the said post.
Pineda will once again serve as deputy to mother Lilia, who ran for governor without any foe as well.
Guiao's squad looks to build a commanding 3-0 lead against Abueva's club in the third game of their championship showdown at 7 p.m.
