MANILA--Agila scored a UFL win in the weirdest of ways.
Agila downed Laos, 1-0, in a morning kickoff on Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
However, the lone goal technically did not come from the winning club.
Laos' Rezziel Villaespin committed a huge blunder in the 44th minute when his clearance to stop Christian Castillo's offensive went the opposite way and accidentally sent the ball to their own goal, going past Felipe Tripulca.
Save for the own goal, Tripulca played superb goalkeeping that kept Agila from scoring, denying huge chances especially in the second half.
But it was Agila's keeper Kenneth James who played the hero for his club after saving Hamed Hajimahdi's free kick with less than two minutes left in the game.
Agila scored their first win of the league season to move up to eighth place in the table, while Laos dropped their fifth straight loss.
