FEU earns quarterfinals berth with rout of EAC

SAN JUAN, MM--FEU completed the quarterfinal cast for Group A in the FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup in style, walloping EAC, 73-52, at the FilOil Flying V Centre on Friday.

The Tamaraws, who joined the Arellano Chiefs, NU Bulldogs, and Perpetual Help Altas in the playoffs, pulled a historic feat by limiting the Generals to only one point in the second quarter, the lowest ever recorded for a quarter in a game of the ten-season-old preseason tournament before maintaining the huge lead in the end.

Monbert Arong led FEU, whose final seeding will depend on the Perpetual Help-CSB match later Friday, with 20 points, while Steve Holmqvist added 19.

Ken Holmqvist only tallied two points in his return from a gold medal conquest in the SEABA Stankovic Cup in Bangkok last week.

Hamadou Laminou scored all of his 15 points from the free throw line along with 17 rebounds, one assist, and six blocks for EAC, but he was 0-of-11 from the field all game long. Overall, the Generals only shot 23 percent on the floor.
