MANILA--Gilas Pilipinas team manager Butch Antonio announced the 14 players who will undergo a pivotal training camp in Europe later this month as part of their preparation for the FIBA OQT.
Antonio, in a tweet early Thursday, revealed the shortlist as follows:

The announcement effectively made San Miguel sniper Marcio Lassiter the latest cut from the training pool.
Lassiter, as revealed by Coach Tab Baldwin to the media on Wednesday night, still tried to practice on Monday despite suffering from bronchitis-like symptoms.
"We sent him home two days ago when he showed up at practice with instructions to rest and start eating in such a way that he's told," Baldwin told his advice to Lassiter.
Baldwin was supposed to announce the "Final 14" right after Gilas capped a two-game tuneup series with Iran with a hard-fought victory.

However, outstanding showings from some players prompted the mentor to do an impromptu coaches' meeting at dinner to come up with tweaks to the European camp roster, effectively delaying the supposed announcement.

The itinerary of the Euro trip is as follows: Gilas goes to Greece for a nine-day training camp at the same place where the Greeks' national team also does their training followed by a trip to Istanbul to play Turkey in a friendly and another journey to Bologna to play the said country's national team and either China or Canada in a pocket tournament.
