MANILA—Kaya sent a strong message as the United Football League resumed play on Thursday with a 16-1 rout of Nomads at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Kenny Daniels and OJ Porteria each fired four goals, while three others each netted a brace as Kaya, which bowed out of contention in the AFC Cup two weeks ago, blew out a still hapless Nomads squad as the league returned following a long break that paved the way for Kaya, Ceres, and Global to focus on their international campaigns.
Daniels first struck for Kaya right in the very first minute before doubling the lead eight minutes later.
Louis Clark joined the scoring parade in the 22nd minute before Porteria went on the board after seven minutes. Clark completed his brace in the 33rd minute.
Nomads, which is struggling offensively so far in the league season, finally scored a goal as Stephen Appiah took advantage of a defensive lapse in the 42nd minute, but Daniels cancelled it quickly with his own shot that completed a hat trick as Kaya went 6-1 up at the half.
