QUEZON CITY--On a night when Damian Lillard came to the Smart Araneta Coliseum to meet his fans, one player came close to stealing the show from him.
In an exhibition featuring some of Adidas' top local endorsers, Star guard Justin Melton made the biggest impression, showing his hops in three instances in the said scrimmage where Lillard acted as a coach.
Eventually, Melton gave in to a request from one of the program's hosts, KC Montero, to do a dunk for the NBA star to witness, and he did not disappoint, slamming off an assist from teammate Alex Mallari.
"To be able to be on the same court with him is an honor," the high-flyer told Dugout Philippines on Tuesday night right after the event about the experience.
He also lauded Lillard for his continuous rise among today's biggest stars in America's top-flight basketball league.
"Anybody who loves basketball looks up to him. He's a hard worker. He proved it last season. He just continues to improve," Melton continued.
