SAN JUAN, MM—NU needed a strong fourth quarter to repulse Adamson, 65-57, to nail the second berth in the semifinals of the FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup in the knockout quarterfinals at the FilOil Flying V Centre on Tuesday.
Med Salim started the Bulldogs' late push by scoring their first eight points in the final quarter.
Rev Diputado then took over in the dying moments by scoring key baskets to keep the Soaring Falcons at bay.
Salim finished with 12 points, four rebounds, one assist, and two blocks, while Diputado added nine points and four rebounds for NU, which will take on the winner of the succeeding match between San Beda and Arellano in the next round on Friday.
Papi Sarr had 11 points and 12 rebounds for Adamson in a game where the key cogs in their playoff-clinching win against UE went cold.
