PASAY--OG trumped Liquid, 3-1, to win the Manila Major at the Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday night.
The all-European finale that capped the week-long DOTA 2 tournament saw OG bouncing back from a Game 1 loss by virtually sweeping the next three games to take home US$1.1 million (around PHP51.7 million).
The series opener actually saw both teams letting each other take their best shot as Johan Sundstein got Alchemist and Amer Barqawi took Lifestealer for OG while Kuroky Takhasomi, Adrian Trinks, Ivan Borislavov, and Lasse Urpalainen nabbed Riki, Timbersaw, Slardar, and Ursa respectively for Liquid.
The fact that Liquid took four heroes with skipper Takhasomi, who usually assumes the support role, going for a known carry hero in Riki took a toll for OG as Liquid went full offensive en route to the Game 1 win.
But it was all-OG in the latter stages of the best-of-five series, learning their lessons from the defeat and took all the marbles.
Following their conquest in the Frankfurt Major last November, OG became the first club to win two Valve-sponsored DOTA 2 tournaments, all coming in the same 2016 season, when the four-major-tournament format was introduced.
The said DOTA 2 year will end with TI6 in Seattle in August, where OG is expected to be among the favorites to win it all.
