QUEZON CITY--Despite missing key cogs in the offseason, Racal showed that it's still a force to be reckoned with, blasting AMA Online Education, 100-67 in the 2016 PBA D-League Foundation Cup Tuesday at JCSGO Gym.

Dexter Maiquez topped the Tile Masters with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Raphael Banal added 15 markers in the team's first win without top stars Jason Perkins and Jiovani Jalalon, who played for his alma mater Arellano in the FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup against San Beda.

Jonathan Grey also kickstarted the rout, pouring all of his 13 points in the first half, while ex-pro Robby Celiz got 11 markers and six boards.

"Ang instruction ko lang sa mga players, kailangan naming manalo, lalo na sa mga ex-pro na gusto makabalik sa PBA para naman makita ng mga teams na galing sila sa winning team," said coach Caloy Garcia, as Racal showed its cohesion with 23 assists for the game. "We just emphasized on our ball movement and don't rely on individual talent and instead on teamwork, and I think we're sharing the ball pretty well today."

The Tile Masters broke the game wide open with a 16-2 run to end the first half to take a 49-30 halftime edge, and would even by as high as 35, 100-65 late.

John Ragasa carried AMA (0-2) with 16 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while Ryan Arambulo got 14 markers and five boards.

In the second game, Ed Daquioag shone the brightest as Aspirants Cup champs Phoenix dismantled Tanduay, 98-79 for its first win.

The former UST star ignited the telling 24-0 run to give the Accelerators a 47-22 edge near the end of the second period before holding off the Rhum Masters late.

Daquioag uncorked 20 of his 22 points, to go with five rebounds and three assists to pace Phoenix, as Mike Tolomia had 15 markers, five boards, and four dimes, and Roger Pogoy dropped 12 in the win.

"Nung ino-obserbahan ko sila sa practice, sabi ko I'm very happy sa nakikita ko. They enjoy playing with each other and they're playing confident with each other," said coach Eric Gonzales. "Kitang kita yung trust nila sa isa't isa and I just warned them to not underestimate the opponent but respect them and play their best effort."

Jovet Mendoza topped the Rhum Masters with 11 points.
