MANILA--After nailing a landmark partnership with UGB to put up events in the Philippines, the WSOF, through its international affiliate WSOF-GC, took its talents to Malaysia, inking a partnership with local promotion JFL.
The said partnership also made JFL owner Rayner Kinsiong's other "baby", kickboxing promotion STAND, as an affiliate of the WSOF-GC, becoming the first non-MMA organization to become part of the growing MMA network.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for Malaysia MMA to build a strong foundation for the future with Jesselton Fighting League,” said WSOF-GC affiliate coordinator Zachary Harris.
“Yes, MMA is what we are most recognized for, but our fans love all combat sports. It was only a matter of time before we added a kickboxing or boxing promotion,” WSOF-GC president Shawn Wright said about the addition of STAND among the promotion's partners.
WSOF-GC and JFL's partnership will be formalized through an event on Sept. 24 in Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysia has become a rising force in Southeast Asian MMA, especially with the blooming career of One Championship fighter Gianni Subba.
