PASIG--Cafe France-CEU made sure they won't need some late drama as they drubbed Blu-Malaysia, 90-61, in the second round of the PBA D-League Foundation Cup eliminations at the Ynares Sports Arena on Thursday.
Unlike their first meeting where the Bakers only pulled away in the fourth quarter, they needed a huge late second quarter rally to repulse the Dragons.
After a close first half that even saw Blu-Malaysia take a 28-26 lead, Cafe France went on a 19-0 run up to the early goings of the third quarter with Rodrigue Ebondo leading the way.
After the Dragons came to as close as ten later in the period, Paul Zamar spearheaded another 12-0 blast from the Bakers to pull away for good.
Zamar and Ebondo each tallied 20 points for Cafe France, which ties Phoenix in the lead at 6-1 provisionally. Phoenix is battling AMA as of posting.
Juami Tiongson had 17 points for Blu-Malaysia, which further slipped to 1-7.
