PASIG--Cafe France and Phoenix lock horns for the first time since their memorable PBA D-League Aspirants Cup Finals-CEU in the season-ending Foundation Cup on Thursday night at the Ynares Sports Arena.
The Bakers, the defending Foundation Cup champs, and the Accelerators, the eventual Aspirants Cup holders, clash at the 6 p.m. game as they vie for the solo lead.
"Alam naman natin na pag Phoenix ang kalaban, it's all about kung sino ang mapupunta nasa taas. Nandoon yung competitive spirit for both teams palagi kasi naglaban na kami dati sa championship," said Cafe France coach Egay Macaraya.
For his part, Phoenix mentor Eric Gonzales said, "We have to do the right things. It's not going to be easy facing that team."
In the curtain raiser at 4 p.m., also-ran Mindanao tries to bounce back from two devastating defeats against AMA.
Losing by more than 50 points in their last two matches that effectively eliminated them from semifinal contention, the Aguilas will attempt to play spoilers to the Titans' own flickering playoff hopes.
