QUEZON CITY--Ahmed Mujtaba stayed as the UGB featherweight champion after quickly deposed Filipino challenger Neil Laraño in just the first round of their match at WSOF-GC 3 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Saturday night.
Mujtaba, who won the title last January at UGB 14 at Circuit Makati, needed only 68 seconds to force Laraño to tap out via triangle choke.
Mujtaba moved up to 7-0, while Laraño suffered his first loss since turning fully pro.
Although the fight was for a UGB title, the match was added to the WSOF Global fight card as UGB is the Philippine affiliate of WSOF Global.
