Overtime showcase lands Garcia Player of the Week award

MANILA--RR Garcia took over for Star in the overtime period of their PBA Governors' Cup win against GlobalPort.

Garcia made eight of his 26 points in the extra five minutes, making all of his three field goals, to lift the Hotshots to the victory in the blackout-marred showdown with the Batang Pier.

“I think RR pretty much adjusted pretty well. I am just happy... He got his confidence going and it’s fun seeing him and Terrence [Romeo] go at it. We gave up a lot to get him and he played like the three players we gave up,” Coach Jason Webb said on Garcia, who outperformed his former teammate at FEU and even at GlobalPort.

Garcia's heroics earned him the Accel-PBA Press Corps Player of the Week award, besting Blackwater's JP Erram, Rain Or Shine's Gabe Norwood, and Alaska's Chris Banchero announced by the league on Monday.
