Pirates go on hot streak, trounce Blazers

SAN JUAN, MM--The Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates continue to roll and work their way up the standings after trouncing the College of Saint Benilde Blazers in lopsided fashion, 75-58, in the final game of the NCAA Season 92 Thursday doubleheader at the FilOil Flying V Center.

The Pirates picked up where they left off as they reckoned on confidence and momentum to take the life out of the Blazers right off the bat. LPU ended the first quarter with a double-digit lead, 17-7.

CSB tried to make some headways to start the second quarter, but coach Topex Robinson was able to press the right buttons, making adjustments on rotation and instilling poise to his men, enough to keep the 10-point lead at halftime, 33-23.

The handicap then ballooned to many big as 20, and the Pirates never looked back from then en route to their second consecutive win.

LPU Rookie Ian Alban once again stood out with 21 points, four rebounds and three assists, putting him in his second straight Best Player citation as well. Harry Nzeusseu added 15 points and 22 rebounds.

The woes continue, on the other hand, for the Blazers as they remain at the bottom of the team standings still with a winless record.

Christian Fajarito and Yanki Haruna chipped in 13 markers each for CSB.
