MANILA--San Beda-A and NU battled to a 2-2 stalemate in their Ang Liga Division 1 clash at the San Beda Football Field on Sunday.
The showdown between the NCAA powerhouse and the UAAP rising force boiled down to some late drama before ending up with the draw.
Both teams went scoreless for 70 minutes until Francis Mbei finally found the net for NU with his 71st minute goal.
But Aljo Zabala converted a penalty kick in the 84th minute to tie the game, setting up the wild finish.
Jepoy Abada appeared to have given the Red Lions the win as he struck the goal two minutes into the five-minute stoppage time.
But Lawrence Colina forced the point-sharing after his equalizing spot kick at the death.
In the curtain raiser in Division 2, Marvin Lianza fired the game-winner as EAC edged MCL, 3-2.
Lianza drilled in the go-ahead strike with one minute left in regulation as the Generals, who are slowly becoming a threat in the NCAA, averted the upset bid by the Wizards.
MCL drew first blood in the 17th minute as Carlo Cubio had only the goalkeeper to beat and did not disappoint.
But Lianza equalized in the 25th minute and Bryan Micabalo put EAC up nine minutes later.
Just as the second half began, the Wizards tied the match anew with Marvin Bonafe's goal.
After a long struggle for the game-winner, the Generals finally netted the win after Lianza's dagger.
