MANILA--A former champion swimmer is ready to conquer WSOF Global.

You read it right.

May Ooi, who represented Singapore in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics swimming competition, will make her WSOF Global debut at WSOF-GC 3 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on July 30.

Already a bemedalled athlete at the SEA Games when she made the Olympics at the age of 16, Ooi took the shift to MMA following her graduation from medical school in 2009, helping her husband put up MMA gyms before eventually trying out the sport.

“I don’t think there is anyone that has ever crossed over from Olympic swimming. This just goes to show the fire and determination that May has. She is a true competitor and has the mental toughness that you would expect from an Olympian,” said Jason Lilly, Vice President of Operations of WSOF-GC.

Boasting a 2-1 record, Ooi, who once considered joining UFC, will take on debuting American pro fighter Katherine Roy at WSOF GC 3.

"Both May and Katherine are fine examples of not only athletes, but strong, independent women as well. I know they will bring some added excitement to an already stellar lineup at the 'Philippines vs. The World' event on July 30" said WSOF-GC owner Dunesa Hesser.
