QUEZON CITY--Scottie Thompson made triple-doubles a habit during his days with the Perpetual Help Altas in the NCAA.
On Wednesday night in the PBA Governors' Cup, Ginebra's prized rookie made an encore of it.
Thompson, the best rebounding point guard during his college days, stood tall against the rest of the pack to help the Gin Kings stifle the NLEX Road Warriors, 85-72, in the nightcap of the Wednesday doubleheader at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Thompson grabbed 12 boards and actually came close to a double-double with eight points as Ginebra used a 16-3 run in the fourth quarter to pull away for good from NLEX.
Justin Brownlee showed he is now acclimatized with the Philippine weather after a 36-minute cramp-free game with 24 points, 15 rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and one steal for the Gin Kings, who moved up to 2-1.
Henry Walker led the Road Warriors, who played sans the suspended Asi Taulava, with 18 points, 13 rebounds, one assist, and one block.
