QUEZON CITY--Maverick Ahanmisi started the PBA All-Star Weekend by winning the Skills Challenge at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Friday.
After edging San Miguel's Brian Heruela in the head-to-head elimination phase, the Rain Or Shine rookie guard clocked the fastest in the final round, finishing the obstacle course in 32.95 seconds.
Ahanmisi beat Blackwater's Carlo Lastimosa by barely a second for the Skills Challenge title. Lastimosa took 34.11 seconds to finish his course.
The only other player to finish the Skills Challenge in less than 40 seconds was Phoenix's Mark Cruz, who was done in 36.9 seconds.
Star's Mark Barroca was in fourth with 45.23 seconds, while Paolo Taha, who replaced his injured Mahindra teammate LA Revilla in the contest, was in fifth with 46.11 seconds.
Ginebra's Scottie Thompson needed 49.38 seconds before finishing his final round stint.
