SAN JUAN, MM—University of Perpetual Help stretched its winning run to four games as it blasted Emilio Aguinaldo College, 70-53, for solo second in the first game of Tuesday’s NCAA Season 92 at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
The Altas led right from the opening tip, and took advantage of the Generals’ shooting woes en route to improving to a 6-2 win-loss card, just behind the still unbeaten San Beda (8-0).
Bright Akhuetie registered a double-double anew as he muscled his way with 19 points and 12 rebounds, while adding four assists and two blocks in 28 minutes of action.
Despite the Las Piñas-based squad committing 21 turnovers, it was its steady defensive job that propelled them to victory, forcing the Generals to shoot a miserable 22.54% (16-of-71) from the field.
Gab Danganon backstopped Akhuetie with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Jeffrey Coronel was the other double-digit scorer with 10.
Morada paced EAC, which suffered its sixth loss opposite two victories, with 15 points, while Hamadou Laminou and Sidney Onwubere chipped in 14 and 13 markers in that order.
