SAN JUAN, MM—Perpetual Help is on a roll.

With non-nonsense defense coupled with Gab Danganon’s double-double game, the Altas went on to gun down the Mapua Cardinals, 71-51, for solo second place in the NCAA Season 92 at the FilOil Flying V Centre Thursday.

The Altas allowed the Cardinals to just 18 points in the first 20 minutes, eight in the first period to book their fifth straight triumph and seventh overall and improve to a 7-2 win-loss card.

It also limited Mapua to less than 30 percent from the field, while swatting away eight shots as compared to MIT’s four. Prince Eze was accounted for half of those rejections.

Danganon registered 20 points while hauling down 11 rebounds plus two steals and two blocks.

Bright Akhuetie also booked a double-double effort of 11 points and 12 rebounds, punctuated by a ferocious one-handed monster slam off a Jeffrey Coronel dish for a 68-48 cushion, 2:20 left.

Mapua was still missing the services of guard CJ Isit due to a finger injury as it dropped its third straight game to fall further down the standings at 5-3.

Darell Menina paced the Intramuros-based squad with 13 points. Allwell Oreame was a non-factor in the game as the reigning MVP was held to just six points with 13 rebounds.
