MANILA--A special Brazilian jiu-jitsu event will kick start One: Heroes of the World at the Cotai Arena in Macau on Aug. 13.

Dubbed as "One Grappling Challenge Macau", the pre-fight card tournament hopes to draw the best Asian and even non-Asian jiu-jitsu practitioners.

“In line with our vision to build local martial arts heroes in Asia, One Championship continues to develop new ways to promote the sport of MMA and other martial arts. This tournament is a step in the right direction. The tournament gives fans the chance to witness high-level technical grappling at its finest, and we are excited at the possibilities,” said One president Victor Cui.

The said tournament is divided into three divisions, the beginner, the advanced, and the elite levels.

The Elite Division tournament is expected to be star-studded as reigning One lightweight champion Shinya Aoki will play in the male category while One women's atomweight champ Angela Lee and eight-time world BJJ champion Michelle Nicolini will grace the female category. Both categories will be further divided into weight levels, depending on whether the fighters make the assigned weight to join the lightweight division or not (75 kilograms for males and 65 kilograms for females).

Participants will get a treat as the registration fee of US$125 (almost PHP5,900) include an overnight stay at either The Venetian Macau or at Holiday Inn Macau, six free tickets to the MMA fight night, a 30 percent discount should they buy more, and a souvenir t-shirt.

People who wish to join the One Grappling Challenge, which will start at 10 a.m., can register here.
