SAN JUAN, MM—Arellano University leaned once again to Jio Jalalon as the Chiefs crushed Jose Rizal University, 89-69, to grab a share of second place in the final game of Friday’s NCAA 92 festivities at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Teaming up with backcourt partner Kent Salado and slotman Lervin Flores, Jalalon exploded for 23 points on 60 percent shooting along with seven assists and four rebounds.

The Chiefs’ defense also stymied the JRU duo of Teytey Teodoro and Paolo Pontejos as the duo struggled with four points apiece on a measly 3-of-19 field goal shooting.

Salado added 13 points, while Flores notched 12 with eight caroms for Arellano.

It is the Chiefs’ fourth win a row, in the process tying Perpetual in second place with a 7-2 win-loss record, just behind pace-setters San Beda, which defeated San Sebastian earlier for its eighth consecutive victory.

Abdel Poutouchi was JRU’s lone double-digit scorer with 15 points, while four others got seven each. The Mandaluyong-based squad fell to 3-5.
