SAN JUAN, MM—Emilio Aguinaldo College finally fared well from the field as it pummeled College of Saint Benilde, 76-56, to finish its first round campaign on a high note in Season 92 of the NCAA basketball competitions Thursday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
Fresh from its dismal outing opposite Perpetual Help on Tuesday where they shot just 22.5 percent from the field, the Generals this time were almost spotless to notch their third win against six setbacks, an improvement from its two-win season last year.
Sidney Onwubere led the charge with 16 points for the Generals, which shot a 44.3 percent clip this time, including a 10-for-27 (37 percent) shooting from downtown. He also added seven rebounds, five assists and two blocks in 31 minutes of action.
After a nip-and-tuck first quarter, the boys of coach Ariel Sison went down to work offensively, even enjoying its biggest lead at 25, 72-47, behind the sniping of Francis Munsayac and Raymund Pascua.
Hamadou Laminou canned down 14 points, eight rebounds, and five blocks, while Jorem Morada chipped in 13 markers and Pascua 10 for EAC.
Carlo Young top-scored for the Blazers, now losers of nine straight games, with 14 points, while Yankie Haruna notched 13.
