BACOOR--Phoenix dethroned erstwhile PBA D-League Foundation Cup champion Cafe France-CEU, 89-78, in their knockout semifinal at the STRIKE Gym on Tuesday to nail the first spot to the championship round.

The Accelerators began the third quarter of their do-or-die showdown with the Bakers on a 14-4 run to spark their breakaway.

Mike Tolomia exploded for 31 points on 12-of-24 shooting with three rebounds, four assists, and one steal for Phoenix, which will make a quick return to a D-League finals series after winning the championship in the previous conference, the Aspirants Cup.

Mac Belo added a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds with three assists and one block.

Rodrigue Ebondo tallied 25 markers, 19 boards, and one steal for Cafe France, which failed to complete an overhaul of a twice-to-beat disadvantage following Thursday night's win also at the said venue.
