MANILA--The PSC officially kicked off the countdown to the nation's hosting of the 2019 SEA Games by announcing that an "Olympic City" will be built inside the Clark Economic Zone in Angeles.
Chairman Butch Ramirez said that the said sports complex, which, once completed, will further highlight the "Green City" project inside the said city's business district, will have an athletes' village and a national sports training center featuring state-of-the-art facilities.
"This is not a lip service," Ramirez said on Friday, vowing that the "Olympic City" will push through as part of President Rodrigo Duterte's aim on revitalizing Philippine sports.
Duterte's hometown, Davao City, will be the main host of the 2019 SEA Games, although some events may be done in other cities like what happened in the Philippines' most recent hosting in 2005, and the proposed Olympic City is a sign that Angeles will likely host some sports competitions too.
